Jon-Erik Lido, LAc
Jon-Erik approaches healthcare with a unique blend of clinical experience and an easygoing, conversational warmth. He has been practicing acupuncture since 2010, following a thirteen-year career in software development that left him desiring an opportunity to apply his analytical mind to solving a different kind of problem—one that could tangibly improve peoples’ lives. While he takes his commitment to his patients with absolute seriousness, his style in the treatment room is light, humorous, and deeply connected.
In the clinic, Jon-Erik specializes in structural, functional, and orthopedic conditions, with a particular focus on acute and chronic injuries, surgical rehabilitation, and chronic pain involving the spine and extremities. His approach bridges a foundation rooted in traditional Chinese tui na bodywork and acupuncture with a modern, biomedical understanding of neuro-anatomy. By integrating concepts from Western methods like osteopathy, strain-counterstrain, and neuropuncture with traditional acupuncture, electroacupuncture, Classical Chinese Medicine theory, and tui na bodywork, he works to restore mobility and performance, and to relieve the negative impacts of modern life, stress, sports injuries, and physical burnout.
Jon-Erik has a special interest in anti-aging and longevity.
Driven by this passion, he is excited to bring microneedling aesthetic treatments to Durham Integrative Health and Acupuncture Center. He believes that when we feel good and we look good, we live richer, more fulfilled lives.
In addition to his work as a clinician, Jon-Erik is a faculty member and clinical supervisor at Jung Tao School of Classical Chinese Medicine in Sugar Grove, NC. He is about to begin his fifth year teaching the advanced Clinical Skills curriculum to third-year students at the school. In his role as a clinical supervisor at the school, he ensures the next generation of acupuncturists is grounded in absolute safety, efficacy, and technical excellence.
His study of anatomy and movement also extends to the yoga world. A long-time practitioner, he authored a comprehensive Yin Yoga teacher training curriculum that he still co-teaches with his wife, Melissa, educating yoga teachers across the Triangle. Jon-Erik has called Durham home since 2004, and he and Melissa have become deeply rooted in the local community. Together they share a passion for skiing and SCUBA diving.
